Danskine Loch

Brief description of fishery:

This small and beautiful loch is one of Scotland’s original “wildie” waters – located within an a SSSI.

Sadly, the original stock is greatly depleted due to major losses from an unknown cause in the early ’90s, and it is not known how many remain. In 2005, the SCG re-stocked with wild carp and more recently with common and mirror carp which have been caught to over 20lb. There are also roaches and a large head of perch which includes some good specimens over 2lbs. Disabled access is difficult as the track around the loch is often muddy and access to individual swims can be tough.  The lochside is overgrown in places so be prepared to deal with areas of the jungle. However, there are many accessible swims particularly near the car park end of the loch which regularly produce good quality fish.  This is a venue to test your angling skills in trying to catch carp that are used to tranquility.  If you desire peace and quiet then Danskine is a water you should definitely visit.

A key is required for access to the car park, these can be purchased from the Products Section of ClubMate at a cost of £6.50 which includes postage and packaging.

No fishing from 10th November to the 7th February each year as it is used for shooting during this time.
