Work Parties are an essential part of our estate management.
These are coordinated by the Head Bailiff and take place annually or as and when required. Dates and venues are announced on social media, and although we ask members to bring some gloves and tools, these will be provided on site that day. Safety is paramount and some of the more challenging work is mainly executed by members who have prior training in particular tasks. Covid has brought its own challenges and we have safety measures in place especially during these times. As a result, a pre-registration of attendance must take place to allow us to put the appropriate safeguards in place.
As stated above, work parties are annual events on each water, however, every now and again we seize the chance to make an extra effort if the opportunity presents itself. In March 2021, a work party was held at Lanark Loch as the water level had been dropped for essential maintenance at the dam. This was a once in 30 year window allowing access to areas of the loch usually submerged and due to the amount of members who attended, the task was successfully completed.
